Fans Continue to Speculate What Brought Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter Marriage to an End

As you know, in the midst of the confusion after the broadcast of the  finale of the fifth season, “The big one” , the rumor emerged that the couple formed by Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter (the brothers Dexter and Debra Morgan in fiction) were about to make their decision and announce to the public that they divorce. The reaction of the couple’s agent did not wait and immediately transmitted a brief statement to the website of the American magazine Entertainment Weekly, confirming the news, to the surprise of the fans. The statement read as follows:

“Having been separated for a while, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.”

Their representatives add that the separation has been friendly. Michael, 39, and Jennifer, 31, who met during the filming of the series and began a relationship in 2007, put an end to almost two years of marriage, after getting married on December 31, 2008.

Some of the information from Hollywood states that the couple did not spend time together on the set during much of the filming of the fifth season and that Jennifer used to tell her classmates that they had certain family problems. Jeniffer didn’t hide her sorrow about the unfortunate past that the couple had together and made brief statements to US Magazine commenting that they tried to hide personal issues as much as possible and not bring their problems to work.

“Our marriage didn’t look like anyone else’s, and our divorce didn’t either, so…I said it before, just because the marriage ended doesn’t mean the love did,” Carpenter replied, her voice breaking. “I’m crying. It’s an awkward thing to talk about your personal life in front of a bunch of strangers, but there’s nothing but love and respect between us. Nothing.” Jennifer added.

When Showtime held a party for the broadcast of the season finale in New York. Jennifer attended, but not Hall. The reactions of the fans worried about what this could mean for the series have not been long in coming. But the truth is that we are faced with two great actors, two great professionals, who were already experiencing problems during the filming of that year, but who have not let their mutual problems affect their work, so it was very unlikely that this affected the series somehow.

Their relationship aside, both stars said they felt good about where the show had ended up. “Ninety-six episodes in, I felt like we were all called upon to invest ourselves to bring it home,” Hall said while shooting the final episode. “There were so many lasts…It was a bittersweet perpetual going-away party. It was the feeling when you read a great book, and you read the last page, and there’s something hovering in the air. It was that times 100. It was beyond anything we could probably articulate then, or now, apparently.”

None of the actors or those responsible for the series have made more statements in this regard to this day and fans continue to speculate what made their favorite couple separate in the first place.
